Do you have a goldmine of content sitting in one format that you want to repurpose, but you’re unsure how? Maybe you've captured brilliant ideas in voice notes that would make binge-worthy blog posts. Or perhaps you have podcast scripts that would make great video clips.
Sound familiar?
Here's the challenge: Converting content from one format to another traditionally takes significant time and effort. But what if AI could do the heavy lifting for you?
This article explores five innovative AI workflows that can transform your existing content into new, valuable formats in minutes. Let's dive into how you can work smarter, not harder, with your content.
1. Turn messy voice notes into perfect content for any platform
You know what they say—your best ideas come when you’re doing other things, like walking the dog or driving. Capturing those ideas as voice notes while you’re on the move is easy. But turning them into polished content? That's where things typically grind to a halt.
Not anymore, thanks to ChatGPT! Thanks to the app’s voice capabilities, capturing ideas AND turning them into structured content in minutes is super easy. No more letting those voice notes gather digital dust.
But you don’t just want to say “Hey, ChatGPT here’s an idea I have—turn it into a blog post”. That won’t render a great result.
Here's how we’d do it:
- Make sure you have the ChatGPT app installed on your phone so you can hopefully capture ideas when they pop up unexpectedly.
- Record your voice note—it can be scrappy, disorganised and unstructured. Generative AI is very good at creating order from chaos. Start with “I’m going to give you an idea I have had for X (e.g. a blog post)” then talk naturally.
- Ask the AI to simply listen, to start with. When you’re done, ask it to review your thoughts and create a structure or outline from everything you’ve said.
- Now you have two options: you can have ChatGPT write a post there and then or (this is our preferred approach), leave it and come back to the chat when you’re next at your desk or ready to write. Ask ChatGPT to write a draft based on the outline it put together earlier.
Tip: Do this in sections; ChatGPT typically writes better content in smaller chunks versus writing one long post all in one go).
Need some inspo for what you can create this way? Turn your voice notes into:
- Twitter threads ready for posting
- LinkedIn posts primed for engagement
- Blog post drafts
- Social media updates
- and more!
The beauty of this approach? You maintain the spontaneity and natural flow of your original thoughts while gaining the polish of structured content—all without typing a single word.
2. Spin up content directly from your Notion database items
If you have one or more content databases in Notion, you’re sitting on a goldmine of potential other content. Take Ben’s Bites for example—we manage the creation of all our AI tutorials in Notion. Thanks to AI and a tool called Dust, it can take us mere minutes to turn those tutorials into, say, blog posts or LinkedIn articles.
How?
Dust is like a smart AI assistant that integrates directly with Notion. After you install it, you simply chat to it and ask what you’d like it to do. It’s remarkably quick and great at producing what you need.
How to get started with Dust and Notion:
- Create a Dust account and head to the Build tab
- Create an assistant in Dust; we recommend starting with the pre-made Content Writer template which is perfect for blog post creation
- Configure your assistant, then connect it to your Notion database as a data source
- Start a new chat and @mention your assistant
- Simply ask what you need—you might ask it to write a blog post or create a summary from your database content
- The assistant will provide a topic summary and direction for your review
- Approve or adjust the direction, then let it create your content
This workflow really does save a tonne of time when it comes to content repurposing. It’s a bit like having a team of content specialists who know your documentation inside and out.
3. Create slick video scripts from help docs
If your product has help documentation—think SaaS, hardware or devices, mobile apps, booking systems etc—you’re sitting on lots of potential video script material. Imagine how well your customers could use your product if they could watch engaging video demonstrations. Now if you could just find an easy way to actually create those scripts…
You guessed it—AI is here to help. With a tool like ChatGPT turning your help documentation into engaging video scripts needn’t feel like turning a textbook into a blockbuster movie.
How to use AI to transform docs into professional video scripts in minutes:
- Make sure your help docs are in a format ChatGPT can understand—PDFs work well. One document per PDF is recommended.
- Upload one PDF to ChatGPT and prompt it to turn the document into a script. Make sure you’re specific about ChatGPT’s role, and its constraints (e.g. what should or shouldn’t be shown on screen, length of video, the intended audience/platform etc).
- See what ChatGPT produces and keep refining until you’re happy with the output.
- Then move on to the rest of your help documents. By this point you should be able to simply say “Now do the same for this document” and thanks to its context window, ChatGPT will understand based on the conversation history.
4. Extract the best bits of podcasts to use in written content
Here’s an idea for speedy content creation: research podcasts in your niche or industry to find the most interesting thoughts or topics, then write up your take on each.
Sounds great, but wouldn’t listening to hours of podcasts just to find interesting ideas take, well, hours?
Without AI it would. But those days are behind us.
Our brilliant content team here at Ben’s Bites put together a tutorial demonstrating how you can automatically skim the web for podcasts and use AI to summarise the best bits in Google Docs.
You can then take those Google docs and use, say, ChatGPT or Claude to turn the podcast insights into proper content—blog posts, newsletter write-ups, or even your podcast episode script.
How’s it done?
- Install the Zapier Central browser extension (like having an AI copilot in Chrome).
- Create a new Zapier Central bot and configure it so it has an appropriate trigger phrase and clear instructions on what to do whenever you prompt it.
- Connect it to Google Docs for automatic document creation.
- Test it out! Navigate to any podcast page with a transcript. Click the Zapier Central extension, use your trigger word, and watch as your bot extracts insights and creates a structured Google Doc.
Whether you're conducting research, creating content, or just trying to better retain information from your favourite podcasts, this automation turns hours of audio content into scannable, searchable written gold.
5. Transform video demos into detailed process docs
How often do you and your teammates send Looms or quick screen-share videos to explain something? If it’s something you find yourself doing often, it probably needs an SOP! That’s short for Standard Operating Procedure—a process document, basically.
When video isn’t enough, use AI to quickly create a process document that’s accurate and comprehensive.
You can also use the same process to:
- Share information across different channels
- Create searchable documentation
- Distribute content through company memos
How to do it:
- Start with a transcript: use a tool like Descript or Otter to quickly generate transcripts from videos.
- Upload your transcript to ChatGPT. First, ask it to generate a title and summary for your SOP. Then if that looks good, have it transform the whole transcript into an SOP.
- Use ChatGPT to think of details that might be missing or steps that should be included.
- ChatGPT can also help you adapt the content for different audiences and purposes if needed.
Why these content transformations matter
Getting your content into the right format is essential for reaching your audience effectively. Just as you need different types of content for different parts of the customer journey, you need different formats to meet your audience where they are.
Companies that leverage AI for content transformation can:
- Repurpose content more efficiently
- Reach wider audiences across different formats
- Maintain consistency across all content types
- Save significant time and resources
Ready to start transforming your content? Pick one of these approaches and test it with a small piece of content. You might be surprised at how quickly you can build a more versatile content library—without the traditional heavy lifting.
