Animating characters is typically a complex and resource-intensive effort, requiring intricate software and specialized skills. Whether you're looking to create engaging content for social media, marketing materials, or a personal project, bringing characters to life can seem out of reach without a significant budget or time investment.

But with Viggle's 3D engine, animating characters has become much more accessible and straightforward. How? Viggle allows you to pick from a library of motion templates, upload a still image, and animate it instantly, enabling all creators to add this skill to their repertoire.

In this tutorial, we will:

  • Select a motion video template
  • Upload a full-body image
  • Animate the character with a click
  • Download and share your animation

For example, in a couple of minutes, I animated myself into a Euro 2024 celebration video:

Let’s dive in and see how it’s done.

Step 1: Select a motion video template

To get started, go to the Viggle website and select the “Try on Web” option. Viggle initially launched on Discord, and has expanded to mobile apps, but we’re going to walk through the web version in this tutorial.

You’ll be taken to the Mix editor, which will allow you to add a motion video to start. You can upload your own motion video, bring a motion video from a third-party service, or select a motion video template from Viggle.

We’re going to select a template from Viggle. To do this, click the “Template” button under the motion upload box.

💡 Tip: You can also select the “Move” workflow by clicking on that tab. Rather than placing a character into a video, it applies motion to the character scene, essentially the inverse of the workflow we’ll be walking through in this tutorial.

A pop-up will appear with a large library of motion videos. Pick any motion video template you want. We’re going to select the “Euro2024 Spain Rodri Celebration” animation from the Trending section of the library.

Step 2: Upload a full-body image

With your motion video added, you can now upload a static character image. To do this, click on the upload box in the Character column.

💡 Tip: As Viggle recommends, for better results, use a full-body photo with a clean background for your character image.

Step 3: Animate the character with a click

With your image uploaded, you can now animate it. Before doing that, you can update the 3D engine model and change the background in the bottom bar. We’re going to leave these as the defaults. When you’re ready, click the “Create” button to animate the image.

The resulting video will appear in the top right corner of the page. It should take less than 30 seconds to complete. Click on the video to expand it.

From here, you can watch your animated video.

Step 4: Download and share your animation

Finally, you can download your video by clicking the download button, or share a link to the video by clicking the “Remix with friends!” button.

And that’s it! In a few steps, you went from a static image to an animated video with Viggle. Have fun with this one. It’s sure to bring some life to your social media and marketing channels.
