Getting consistent output from AI image models can be challenging. If you’re a visual creator, having them match a certain style consistently can be even harder. The team at Exactly AI is trying to make this more manageable for creatives, allowing you to train personal image models on your own work, and use community models, to create consistent, stylized AI-generated visuals.

In this tutorial, we’ll use Exactly AI’s model training tool to create our own custom AI image generation model and then create new work with prompts via this trained model.

Steps we’ll follow in this tutorial:

  • Upload your artwork
  • Add descriptions and train the model
  • Input prompts into your model for new generations
  • Edit and download the generated work

Step 1: Upload your artwork

To get started, create a free Exactly account.

This will take you to a screen where you can upload your original artwork to train the model.

💡 Tip: Exactly requires a minimum of five images to train a model. The more consistent images you upload, the better.

Step 2: Add descriptions and train the model

After you upload your work, Exactly will ask you to confirm your images are consistent.

Adding descriptions is the last step before training the model. What’s nice, is that Exactly AI will automatically add these for you for each of your reference images. You can click on the descriptions to edit them. Click “Train model” when you’re done editing the descriptions.

💡 Tip: Exactly AI provides some tips in the right sidebar for creating high-quality descriptions.

Step 3: Input prompts into your model for new generations

Your image model will get added to your Model Library with the status of “In queue” while it’s training.

💡 Tip: Training the model can take up to an hour! So make sure you get your reference images added correctly, and then you’ll want to take a lunch break or something as the model gets trained. Exactly AI will email you when your model is ready.

Once your model is ready, you can click on it from the “My models” section of your model library to start working with it.

This will take you to a canvas screen where you can generate and edit images using your new model. Click on the blank canvas and add a prompt for image generation. We’re going to request an illustration of people skiing.

Sample prompt:

Colorful illustration of people skiing on a mountain slope.

You can also define the color palette for the image before generating it.

Once you’re ready, click the “Create” button and Exactly AI will generate four images. You can click through them via the bottom preview bar.

Step 4: Edit and download the generated work

Once you’ve landed on an image, you can use some of the Exactly AI editing tools to refine it. For instance, there’s a random shape in the middle of our image, so we’re going to use the Lasso tool to highlight it and request it be updated to “white snow.”

Once you click “Re-create,” Exactly AI will generate four new images with that additional prompt request included.

When you’re satisfied with your image, you can click the download button to download it as a JPEG file.
