Welcome to the first tutorial in our course on creating AI-generated short films.
In this series, we'll explore how to utilize creative AI tools like Claude, Leonardo AI, RunwayML, ElevenLabs, Suno, and Descript to produce a complete animated short film. From script generation to final video editing, you'll learn how to use AI to streamline and enhance your filmmaking process.

Now, we don’t want to oversell the current production quality of AI video generation tools - there’s still a lot more room for quality improvement and ease of use. But these tools will play a part in future filmmaking, so learning these new AI-first video creation workflows will certainly add another creative set of tools to your filmmaking tool belt.
Steps we’ll explore in this course include:
- Generating Scripts and Image Prompts: We'll use Claude to generate the script, dialogue, and initial image prompts for our short film. You'll learn how to craft a cohesive narrative and set the stage for your visuals.
- Creating High-Quality Storyboard Images: Then, we’ll head over to Leonardo AI to generate high-resolution scene images that will act as the storyboard for our short film.
- Animating Images: With our scene reference images ready, we'll move on to animating them using RunwayML. This tutorial will guide you through the process of defining video settings, uploading scene images, and generating the first video animations.
- Adding Voiceovers and Soundtracks: Next, we'll focus on the audio components of your film. Using ElevenLabs, we'll transform your script into professional voiceovers. Then, we'll generate a fitting soundtrack with Suno to enhance the emotional impact of your film.
- Editing and Finalizing Your Film: In the final tutorial, we'll bring all the elements together using Descript. You'll learn how to upload video and audio files, sync them perfectly, and export your finished short film.
