In this tutorial, we’ll look at using ChatGPT to draw up contracts for 3 types of roles: full-time, part-time, and temporary/freelancer contracts. We’ll share prompts that you can use to expedite the process, taking into account legal and organizational compliance, as well as specific role-related clauses.

Let’s dive in.

Full-time contracts

We’ll start this tutorial with full-time contracts. If you’re hiring for a part-time or temp role, you can skip ahead.

Open up ChatGPT and use the prompt below to draft a full-time contract:

Draft a full-time employment contract that defines job responsibilities and outlines the compensation structure, including salary and performance-based incentives. For the details that should be included in the contract on a per-employee basis, include [brackets] that indicate where the manager should input data.
💡 Tip: You’ll need to replace any placeholders (identified in square brackets) with your own specific information relating to the role. You can speed up this process by giving ChatGPT the job description relating to the role you’re creating a contract for, and prompting it to use the description to populate specific info wherever possible.

Here’s what ChatGPT returned when we used this prompt:

__wf_reserved_inherit
__wf_reserved_inherit
__wf_reserved_inherit
__wf_reserved_inherit

Something else to consider is creating a checklist that will make it easier for HR and management to prepare full-time contracts for incoming employees.

Prompt:

Create a checklist of all the details a manager should have to prepare the contract.
__wf_reserved_inherit
__wf_reserved_inherit

Part-time contracts

The process for creating a part-time contract with ChatGPT is largely the same, but we want to adjust the terms to reflect the reduced hours and different expectations.

Prompt:

Draft a part-time employment contract that includes work hours, schedule, and compensation calculation among other necessary details.

__wf_reserved_inherit

💡 Tip: Specify the number of hours per week, work schedule, and how compensation is calculated. Ensure the contract is clear about the nature of the part-time role and its limitations compared to full-time employment.

Similar to before, create a checklist so your HR team or managing can prepare the contract quickly:

Create a checklist of all the details a manager should have to prepare the contract.

Freelancer / temporary contracts

Prompt:

Draft a freelancer contract that outlines the project scope, deliverables, deadlines, and payment terms among other necessary details.
💡 Tip: Again, you can give ChatGPT the job description you used for hiring the freelancer or temp worker, and ask it to slot in any relevant info into the contract.

Finally, generate a checklist for preparing your freelancer contract:

Create a checklist of all the details a manager should have to prepare the contract.

You’ve just generated a full-time, part-time, and freelancer contract for your business. Typically these can cost upwards of $500 each coming from a lawyer. You’ll want to read through the contracts and ensure all the details align with your business. The checklists will help you and your team prepare the necessary details so that you can get contracts prepared and sent out without slowing down projects.
